       Oregano and Sage
  OREGANO (ORIGANUM VULGARE L.)

Oregano belongs to the mint family (Labiatate). It grows up to 1m in height and bears attractive white to purplish flowers in summer. Leaves are green to grey-green.
It has a strong, pungent flavor and aroma. Oregano is native to the Mediterranean. It is harvested in June-August.
Worldwide there are 52 plants of the species “origanum”. 32 are native to the Mediterranean and 21 of which are endemic to Turkey.
Oregano is the most exported plant in Turkey. 7000-7500 tons of Oregano are annualy exported from Turkey. This has made Turkey a leading oregano supplier. Continue>>

  SAGE (SALVIA OFFICINALIS L.)

Sage is an ancient spice and belongs to the mint familiy (Labiatate). It is native to the Mediterranean region. It is slightly bitter and aromatic. Its flowers are blue and grow on short, straight spires. The leaves are soft and silvery green in color. It is harvested during August and September.
There are more than five hundred species of the genus Salvia, of which the most important is Salvia officinalis.
Sage has always been well known for its medicinal properties. It was used for its antioxidant and antimicrobial properties.
